As part of the Waikato District Council’s ‘Representation Review’ there is a proposal to change the current Onewhero – Tuakau Community Board, to drastically reduce the area it covers from the wider Tuakau area and over the river including Port Waikato, Onewhero, Pukekawa and further south, to only covering urban Tuakau. The name will also be changed to reflect this, the proposal being will be called the Tuakau Community Board.
Changes to the Onewhero – Te Akau Ward will both add Aka Aka and Otaua to the north, and remove parts of the southern end of the ward.
