Mercer Cheese

Mercer Cheese is a Dutch-style cheese company owned and operated by Albert Alferink, a Dutch Immigrant who has been perfecting his craft since 1981 in the Onewhero factory he built himself and is now considered a legend in the cheese making community.

Using milk from a neighbouring farm, Albert has blended his Dutch cheesemaking heritage with his experience adapting to New Zealand conditions to create the perfect cheese, with his Vintage Waikato awarded a bronze medal at the World Cheese Awards held in Norway in 2018.

People travel from far and wide to get a taste of the tantalising Mercer Cheese range, sold at their store on Roose Road in Mercer.
